Research and Development Workshops: Valerie Kabov

10 February 2016 2:00 pm - 10 February 2016 5:00 pm

Valerie Kabov is a curator and the cofounder and director of First Floor Gallery in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Her practice involves supporting emerging artists, aiding audience engagement, critiquing cultural policy and examining the role of art in intercultural dialogue.

She addresses alternative and responsive modelling for art organisations in the contemporary economic climate, drawing from her experience of operating in Southern Eastern Africa.

This free Research and Development Workshop takes place in our Office of Useful Art. The sessions aim to foster connections, with current debates in the field and build local collaborative professional networks.

British and international artists and curators will join us to discuss ways in which creativity can address social issues through an examination of contemporary projects or historical cases of socially engaged art and curatorial practice.
